Event History
The competition had many fans and supporters and one of which was Silence Therapeutics PLC (a pharmaceutical company who is currently conducting clinical trials in thalassaemia) offered to sponsor the event. Last year, there were 747 entries submitted from 49 countries. The competition is being sponsored by Silence Therapeutics PLC for the fourth year! This year’s theme is: Fantasy and Fairy Tales! Why did we choose this theme? We learn from the characters in stories, even as adults. They help us because we connect to our own lives, dreams, anxieties, and consider what we would do in their shoes. Not only do they help us all to learn how to navigate life and build emotional resilience, it also crosses cultures and unites us all on a global level. Most importantly fantasy and fairy tales give us all hope especially during some of our darkest times. Are you ready to take a step into the world of magic? Let your imagination be your guide! Ps: if blood donation or finding out about thalassaemia is one of your passions - we will accept this too! Are you ready to create a masterpiece?
What Makes this event different?
Since inception, the competition main aim has been to raise awareness of thalassaemia and the importance of blood donation. Due to the interest and ethos of the competition, UKTS was grateful to receive sponsorship from Silence Therapeutics PLC (a pharmaceutical company who is currently conducting clinical trials in thalassaemia) to carry on our work and give more prizes! We are ecstatic to announce once again the company has agreed to sponsor the event for its 4th year! However, it is important to note that though the competition is funded by the company, it has and always will be an independently run UKTS project and rest assured that your personal details and contact information will never be shared with anyone but the staff of the UKTS who are managing the competition. The only information that will be shared globally via our social media platforms and website is your artwork accompanied by your name, age, and the country you live in!
