The Art Department of Sinclair Community College is seeking exhibition proposals.
Mission
The Sinclair Community College Art Galleries promote the development of professional and student artists and serve as an educational resource for the entire community. The mission of the gallery program is to advocate and encourage the practice and appreciation of the various forms, media, and artistic expressions open to the contemporary artist and viewer. Criteria for acceptance include embodiment of formal artistic concepts, innovative approaches, and professional presentation. The Art Department aims to present to students and the community as many styles and concepts as possible including but not limited to the students' study of ceramics, collage, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture.
Proposals
Proposals are accepted at any time. The Exhibition Selection Committee Typically meets in January to review proposals received during the previous year. To be considered in January, proposals must be received by December 10.
Gallery Spaces
Sinclair has two separate, professionally designed galleries.
- The Burnell R. Roberts Triangle Gallery is designed for the exhibition of all media, including electronic and installation work. More information on our Gallery Details Page.
- The Works on Paper Gallery is a glass enclosed case 7’ tall x 37’ wide x 14" deep, used primarily for exhibiting photographs and prints. Work on exhibit there should be matted but need not be framed. More information on our Gallery Details Page.
Exhibition Details
Exhibits are scheduled on a four-to-six-week rotation. The artist is responsible for expenses and insurance while artwork is being transported to and from the gallery. In the case of transport from outside the United States, the artist is also responsible for all duties, fees, and paperwork.
Virtual Artist Talk
A virtual, recorded artist talk is requested but not required.
Submission Requirements
Digital submissions should be e-mailed to: amanda.darrah@sinclair.edu and contain:
- 10 images (jpg format, 72 dpi, 1200 widest/tallest dimension)
- An identifying list with titles, sizes, and media
- A resume or CV
- Artist statement
- Exhibition Application
- Optional:
- Installation details, requirements, needs, etc.
- Notation stating that you are only submitting to the Works on Paper Gallery (artwork will not be framed).
