Open Call: Contemporary Art and Social Processes Residency in Rural Argentina

Add to Favorites Report Listing

Event History

Comunitaria has fostered exchanges between national and international researchers and artists since 2016 with the aim of creating a horizontal space for dialogue that stimulates artistic actions in the socio-cultural context of Lincoln. In its last four editions, the program hosted a total of 44 artists, with 11 participants each year. All editions took place simultaneously in the 11 villages of the Lincoln District.

What Makes this event different?

Situated in the Pampas region, northwest of the Province of Buenos Aires, the Lincoln district comprises 11 villages. Amid a plain landscape, marked by continuous horizontality in a 360º turn, Lincoln is located in the heart of the agro-industrial Pampas, a place where agro-export activities have gained scale, generating processes of urban transformation and affecting the economic structures, the environment, and the local culture. Moreover, as a result, the surrounding towns have faced intense demographic decline, as well as a significant impact on the environment and local living conditions. During the residency period, each artist will engage with one of the villages, using the territory itself as the starting point for the experience. The activities planned by the program will bring the artists closer to the social, cultural, and political dynamics of the region. In this way, it is encouraged that the research and works developed take into account the specificities of the places and the environment where they will be developed, and that the research processes incorporate dynamics of exchange, listening, and contact with the local inhabitants.

Copyright Policy

The Comunitaria program must be credited in all documentation produced during the residency period and subsequently when the developed work is exhibited or publicized. The artist authorizes the institutional use of their image and the artistic work to be developed. Comunitaria and its organizers may use the artist's image and/or the produced work in their institutional and non-commercial materials. The artist agrees to share the records and visual documentation of the research process with Comunitaria. Notification to the Comunitaria program is requested regarding exhibitions and publications in which the produced work appears, even after the residency has ended.
