Event History
Created in 2005 by The Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers and The Lynn Foundation, the open competition continues to champion the skill of draughtsmanship and figurative painting. The exhibition aims to reflect the breadth of approaches and materials from across the artistic spectrum.
This art call is for living artists over the age of 18, who are resident in the British Isles.
The Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize is now in its twelfth year. The Prize is one of the most prestigious awards for artists in the country, offering total prize money of £30,000, including a First Prize of £15,000, Second Prize of £4,000 along with the newly introduced People’s Prize worth £2,000. The competition is particularly popular with young contemporary painters and art students; the Young Artist Award of £4,000 is a coveted prize that aims to promote the tradition of painting and support fresh new talent, and is eligible to artists who are 25 or under. For the third year running, the competition is offering the Brian Botting Prize of £5,000 which will be awarded to an artist aged 30 or under for an outstanding representation of the human figure.
