In celebration of our 40th Year Anniversary, photo-eye Gallery is excited to announce our first ever Open Call. photo-eye invites submissions of photographic and light-based works that are associated with the theme “Fractured."

Our world may seem divided in a number of different ways today. There are heated arguments over the climate emergency, greedy corporate practices like fracking, our government disrupting families at our national borders, and divided political systems that make concepts like unity and harmony feel distant. Human beings also have the capacity to feel split and fissured on a personal level. Our emotions, thoughts, and identities can feel incomplete. Shifts in perspective, breaks from tradition, and an experience of loss can all revolve around the idea of a fracture. This notion can have both positive and negative aspects. Admitting and accepting that something is broken, however, is how we begin to heal it. How can art be a platform for expressing and bridging divides? What role does the photographer play in documenting and healing the fractured landscapes inside and around us all?

Fractured is open to professionals, amateurs, and studentsArtists are encouraged to be creative in their interpretation of the theme. Submitted works may be expressive artworks, or come from photojournalistic documentary projects or commercial assignments.

This exhibition will be juried by the photo-eye Gallery staff:
