Email Friend Add to Favorites Report Listing

The Community Impact Residency Program for U.S. Emerging Artists 2025 welcomes applications from artists in visual arts, literature, performing arts, digital arts, and filmmaking.

With the support of Fomento Educacional A.C., this residency seeks to promote cultural exchange between Mexico and the United States. The program consists of  four residencies for U.S.  artists or graduate art students that wish to create community impact art projects with socially relevant themes, including:

I) Water scarcity II) Gentrification III) Violence in the communities IV) Migration

Four selected artists or graduate art students will spend four to five weeks (depending on artist availability) developing their project and working with local youth, their families, and teachers. They will stay in our residence, located in Atotonilco, 20 minutes from San Miguel de Allende, and close to rural communities of Chichimeca and Otomi indigenous heritage. In addition to immersing themselves in the historical and cultural heritage of the region, they will design their thematic art projects with input from local teachers, artists, and art educators.

Their projects will require the participation of local youth and their families in research, ideation, production, and dissemination activities. Participating artists will present the results of their residency in San Miguel de Allende, Atotonilco, and surrounding areas, as well as through digital channels with reach in Mexico, the United States, and internationally.
