Event History
Arts & Education at the Hoyt is a subsidiary of the Hoyt Center for the Arts, a regional arts center and museum providing a diverse schedule of exhibits, classes, concerts, festivals, events, school and after-school programs year-round. Our joint mission is "to expand and enrich the life of the community through participation in the arts". Exhibits range from artists of local to international reputation and traveling exhibits.
What Makes this event different?
The Main Galleries are located in the historic interiors of one of our two neighboring 1917 mansion. The Walkway Gallery is a modern extension connecting the former residences. Through a partnership with UPMC, the Hoyt also rotates exhibitions in the Hoyt Atrium at UPMC Jameson in New Castle, PA.

Applications for the 2026-27 seasons will be accepted starting in January 1, 2025
Eligibility
While not necessarily limited to artists age 21+ from the Mid-Atlantic region, preference is given to proposals stemming from Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware and Washington D.C under the following conditions:
- Applying to Arts & Education at the Hoyt: Selection for exhibition on our main campus is competitive. Artists are typically established and have prior exhibition experience. You must be able to demonstrate mature talent with a consistent body of work. While most media will be considered, video and installation are discouraged due to the historic nature of the facilities.
- Applying to UPMC Jameson: The Hoyt and UPMC Jameson collecting recognize the healing power of the arts and has reignited a partnership to rotate exhibitions in high traffic corridors of the hospital. In particular, the Hoyt atrium offering a bank of windows that is visible from the Wilmington Avenue entrance. While the fusion of arts and medicine is a topic of interest, subject matter may vary. Please note, all work must be secured to a wall. Thus installations, video and 3D submissions cannot be considered
